A Harrowing Journey
- This event has passed.
It was at the height of the Somali Piracy. The Middle East was in chaos…the “Arab Spring”. My husband and I, an ordinary retired couple, who had taken the perhaps not-so-ordinary decision to sail the world in our retirement, had reached Thailand from our start in New Zealand. We needed to get to the Mediterranean to be closer to home, on the Isle of Wight, to do our share in the care of an elderly parent. Ahead lay a risky route, we knew that. However, we thought we would be safe in a Super Convoy – many yachts sailing together for safety. But…LIFE…interfered and we found ourselves living a nightmare. My book, A Harrowing Journey, and my talk, covers this terrifying time in our lives.
