Write on Wight: Grandpa’s Dear Old Girl
- This event has passed.
Felicity Fair Thompson
It’s interesting, she thinks, how moments in life lead to creativity. Felicity Fair Thompson writes films, plays, poetry, novels, and stories for children. Her early dancing career inspired her first novel. Bringing back a cine film from a trip to Los Angeles inspired her to write and produce 14 travel films. Making them inspired her film about Carisbrooke Castle shown on Sky TV, and from that came her play Exit the King about Charles I. Living by the sea on the beautiful Isle of Wight, and growing up in Australia right by the Sydney Harbour Bridge made the sea important – her novel the Kid on Slapton Beach is about the secret rehearsals for D-day. Now a miniature version of the Isle of Wight is the setting for her new children’s book Grandpa’s Dear Old Girl.
