Lily Blacksell, Sandy Kealty and Christopher Young

Thursday 10th October 14:00 - 15:00 | Northwood House

Lily Blacksell, who has performed in venues from Battersea Arts Centre to New York’s Bowery Poetry Club, will be reading from her pamphlet, There’s No Such Thing, along with new works. All feature an Isle of Wight theme. Local Isle of Wight poet and performer, Sandy Kealty, will be reading from her first book of poetry, The Mermaid is Unimpressed published by Beachy Books. Christopher Young’s poetry explores the traditional themes of time, memory, nature, mortality, and the significance of insignificant things. Where words are concerned, definition is not the same as meaning and description barely touches the surface of things; but a word used in the right image can bring a few dead letters to life. “Like a piece of ice on a hot stove,” Robert Frost said, “the poem must ride on its own melting.”
