Stealing Roses

Heather Cooper

Thursday 10th October 18:00 - 19:00 | Northwood House

Heather Cooper’s first novel, Stealing Roses, is set in Cowes in 1862 – the year the railway first came to the Isle of Wight. Stealing Roses explores the impact of the coming of the railway on a small Victorian seaside town and on the life of one young woman in particular – the free-spirited, passionate Eveline Stanhope.

Heather, who lives in Cowes, will talk about the local inspiration for her novel and characters; how she was influenced by the Victorian heritage of the Isle of Wight; how it feels to be a debut novelist in the highly competitive world of modern publishing; and how writing, with all its pleasures, pitfalls, and challenges, became her third career.
