LOUISE MINCHIN
Louise is known for her time on the sofa of BBC Breakfast, and for her two non-fiction titles (Dare to Tri and Fearless). She was Chair of the Women's Prize for Fiction 2023 and is absolutely passionate about her characters and her debut into the thriller writing world.
In Isolation Island she draws on her inside knowledge of reality shows such as I’m A Celebrity to devise a show with a universally recognisable set-up, but where real darkness lurks behind the gloss of primetime entertainment. This makes for a tense, addictive debut thriller, set within the world of hidden cameras and celebrity egos.
The book takes place on a remote island off the coast of Scotland, where ten celebrities arrive in the depths of winter to take part in the most gruelling – and lucrative - reality survival show ever devised. With a production team that seems incapable of keeping them safe, a gathering storm and the unrelenting gaze of hidden cameras, the contestants are pushed to the edge as they try and outshine their fellow competitors and hide their darkest secrets. But when a contestant winds up dead, it soon becomes clear that they’re not just fighting for the prize, but for their lives.
