Maggie Sawkins

Maggie Sawkins is a British poet now living on the Isle of Wight. Her live literature performance, Zones of Avoidance, described by the judges as ‘beautifully written and uncompromising’ won the Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry. Maggie recently hosted an episode of Tongue and Talk: The Dialect Poets for BBC Radio 4, an extract of which was included in Pick of the Week. Her latest collection, The House Where Courage Lives, compassionately addresses concerns that haunt us all: isolation and freedom, hope and despair, the ways we fill our time.
