Nicola Winsland

Nicola’s first attempts at writing poetry came at a very early age when she would compose funny little rhymes for friends and family to celebrate birthdays and special occasions. Inspired by traditional nursery rhymes and limericks, she enjoyed writing her own versions with a somewhat quirky twist!

Nicola studied at Portsmouth College of Art and Design where she discovered she wasn’t a graphic designer – but an illustrator at heart. Pooems, a humorous anthology of animal poo is her first venture into publishing, and it never crossed her mind that she’d ever write a collection of poems about poo! The idea for writing such a  book came from the brilliant National Poo Museum and just as it has aroused the curiosity and fascination of folks right across the globe, it inspired her to put pen to paper and write pooetry!
