Helen McGinn

Helen McGinn is creator of The Knackered Mother’s Wine Club, an award winning wine blog and best-selling wine book. Helen is an ex-supermarket wine buyer and spent almost a decade sourcing wines around the world.

Married with three children, she writes about wine for the Daily Mail’s Femail section, as well as various magazines including Waitrose Food. She appears regularly on television as the resident wine expert for BBC’s Saturday Kitchen and ITV’s This Morning. Helen McGinn’s Teetotal Tipples for January and Beyond was published in 2017 (updated in 2022 as A Wine Expert’s Guide to the Best Booze-Free Drinks) and was followed in 2018 by Homemade Cocktails both with Robinson. The Knackered Mother’s Wine Guide was re-published by Pan Macmillan in 2020.

Most recently, Helen has realised a long-held dream to write fiction and her debut novel This Changes Everything was published by Boldwood Books in 2021. Described by the Daily Mail as ‘Escapist, warm, witty and wise’ it is a gripping story of love, family secrets and long-held dreams. This was followed in 2021 by In Just One Day an uplifting story about a little girl and the brother she adored that travels from the nostalgia of seaside Britain to the breathtaking waterways of Venice. In 2022, Boldwood published Helen’s third novel; a story about friends, sisters, motherhood and starting again, one day at a time: This Is Us.

Helen lives in the New Forest, Hampshire, with her husband, children and too many dogs. And she is hopeless with a hangover.
