Gift Aid

Gift Aid is a UK tax incentive that enables tax-effective giving by individuals to charities in the United Kingdom.

Gift Aid allows individuals who are subject to UK income tax to complete a simple, short declaration that they are a UK taxpayer. Any cash donations that the taxpayer makes to the charity after making a declaration are treated as being made after deduction of income tax at the basic rate (20% in 2011), and the charity can reclaim the basic rate income tax paid on the gift from HMRC. For a basic-rate taxpayer, this adds approximately 25% to the value of any gift made under Gift Aid.

By selecting the Gift Aid option when you make a donation online you allow the Isle of Wight Literary Festival to claim Gift Aid on your donation.

By doing so you

  • confirm you are a UK taxpayer
  • understand that if you pay less Income and/or Captial Gains Tax than the amount claimed on all donations in that tax year it is your responsibility to pay the difference
  • you will notify Isle of Wight Literary Festival if your contact details change or you no longer pay sufficient tax to qualify for Gift Aid

Alternatively you can download, complete and return this Gift Aid form to Treasurer@isleofwightliteraryfestival.com  so we can claim Gift Aid on your donation.
