Plastic Surgery in Wars, Disasters and Civilian Life

Anthony Roberts

Friday 6th October 15:00 - 16:00 | LitFest Marquee

Professor Anthony Roberts will explain how his involvement with the Bradford City football stadium fire in 1985 had a major effect on him and on his future career. As a result of media exposure, he was asked to join and to lead other international efforts to provide help. Professor Roberts led the first British team from Stoke Mandeville that gave aid in Sarajevo during the Bosnian war; gave aid in three war zones; and six major disasters.

Professor Roberts will discuss his surgical research, and particularly about the charity, Restore – Burn and Wound Research. Set up by Professor Roberts as a result of the work of his charity there is now a much greater understanding of the burn injury and its effects on healing and scarring.
